- This archive contains two Music-X protocols: one for the Emu Proteus
- (including the proteus XR) and one for the Alesis Quadraverb. Both were
- created by Phillip Saunders, 2209 N. Van Dorn #201, Alexandria, Va. 22304.
-
- There is one bug with the Proteus Protocol: Patch names will have an "@"
- instead of a space. This is only in the display; the original data is
- correct. This has to do with the patch name mapping; the docs weren't
- very clear. Since the protocol works, I decided to upload it anyway.
- The protocol loads/saves one Proteus voice at a time. Use the patch number
- to change the read/write location. The "Preview" button is used to access
- voices 128-255. On a normal Proteus (non-XR) you will only be able to write
- to locations 64-127, on an XR all locations 0-255 can be written to.
-
- The Quadraverb (not Quadraverb Plus!) protocol reads or writes one voice at
- a time. Use the patch number to select which one (0-99). Since the
- Quadraverb system exclusive data is encoded, the patch name is not shown.
- You'll have to add it yourself for each patch. Sorry, but that's the way
- it is. Once I get my ROM upgrade, I'll try to write one for the Quadraverb
- Plus.
-
- I tried to write protocols to read/write banks of patches, but I kept
- getting MIDI read errors from Music-X. I believe the problem lies with
- Music-X, not the protocol. Nevertheless, I hope these two protocols will
- be useful. Both were created with Music-X 1.1, but should work with
- earlier versions. No fee is necessary (or asked for), but if you create
- some cool sounds, why not upload them for others to share? If you use or
- like these protocols, drop me a line via Email and let me know. My
- Compuserve User ID is 73077,2732
